The other night, I almost was in a car accident due to horrible road conditions and my need to see my favorite film of the year. So, I decided it might be fitting to share my faves of TwentyTen… since I brave death for them and all…
[TEN] – GET LOW
A moving story of a life filled with self-imprisonment… Not being able to let go of your mistakes, forgive yourself. Plus it has Bill Murray.
[NINE] – WAITING FOR SUPERMAN
A shocking documentary on the public school system in America… just in case you weren’t worried about anything else wrong with our country.
[EIGHT] – INCEPTION
I saw Inception… or at least I dreamed I did…
Incredible film on so many levels. I’m only putting it so low [or high?] on the list because of that damn winter wonderland scene they had close to the end… A] stupid. and B] the film could’ve been over a half hour before the rappelling characters survive the avalanche.
[SEVEN] – PLEASE GIVE
A painfully truthful story about the desires of the soul and just how f*cked up we all really are. Brilliant.

[SIX] – MICMACS
A visually gorgeous tale by the same creative minds that brought us Amélie. Precious and beautiful.
[FIVE] – AN EDUCATION
[didn’t come to jackson ’til 2010, so it counts]
The heart-aching story of a young girl who falls for an older man who teaches her all the beauty that music, art, alcohol and “love” have to offer. [sickening, but beautiful]+ [hurtful, but true] = amazing.

[FOUR] – THE FIGHTER
A powerful story of two brothers who box. This is more about family and drug destruction than it is about fighting. An addict as a person, a sibling, is finally brought to the screen as more than trouble. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still trouble… but not just trouble. Touching.
[THREE] – CYRUS
The year’s most underrated film. Jonah Hill and John C. Rielly [finally] in a film that A] isn’t slapstick offensive, B] is actually touching/truthful and C] is HILARIOUS. It’s effed up… It’s laugh-out-loud funny… It’s real… It’s unpredictable… It’s awesome.
[TWO] – EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP
Well, now, I’m just obsessed with Banksy. I love his art and I find his whole schtick amazingly intriguing. After seeing this film, I couldn’t stop thinking about it for weeks. The best way to describe it is as my french is excused: a mind-f*ck. Is it real? Is it a hoax? Is Terry Guetta legit?

[ONE] – BLACK SWAN
Shocking. Beautiful. Creepy. Don’t see this one with your mother… Unless you’re Lisa Agiewich and you already did… with me. Regardless, this film is absolutely breath-taking. The character development [transformation] and the visual fight between good and evil is just incredible. Undeniably amazing.
Well, there ya have it, folks. And I must add that I’ve yet to see The Social Network and The Kids are All Right. I’ll be sure to let you know if those viewings change anything… I know you’re just on the edge of your seats.
Here’s to TwentyEleven being filled with even better films!

Unfortunately, haven’t yet seen The Fighter, Micmacs, Waiting for Superman or Get Low yet. They are all on my list to see, just haven’t gotten around to it.
Saw An Education in 2009, so it couldn’t be on my list, but I thought it was amazing. Definitely one of my favorites of 2009.
I really can’t believe Inception is that far down on your list, but I’ll forgive you. A huge part of my love for it was the theater experience I had and I can’t fault you for having an different one.
Here’s where we disagree… neither Cyrus or Black Swan made it into my top 15. I just wasn’t feeling either. Their both good movies, but they’re both movies I don’t really care if I ever see again.
Exit and Please Give were both excellent. The end.

I would say see your unseens in this order:
1. Micmacs
2. The Fighter
3. Get Low
4. Waiting for Superman
…I’m guessing that will be your preference. Unless you’re thinking about having kids anytime soon… then see Waiting for Superman first.
Dude, Inception was AWESOME… it just tripped over a few loose tiles to perfections.
I can understand a lot of people “not feeling” Black Swan… I mean, I wouldn’t say [on a public forum] that I was really “feeling” a movie filled with creepy moms, lesbian sex scenes, bloody self-destruction and child-beauty-contest-esque unsettling competition. But I thought it was brilliant and darkly beautiful. [obvi.]
And Cyrus miiiiiight have been a theater experience for me. I dunno. I saw it in a pub theater by myself and was laughing out loud… I also cried… okay, I also had indulged in a few luxuries of a pub theater……
Exit Through the Gift Shop and Please Give were, yes, excellent.

I’ve been holding off on Micmacs because Sheena doesn’t care for subtitled movies. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see it soon. I’ve been wanting to for a long time. Also not sure if she’s interested in The Fighter. We shall see. I plan on seeing those two in the next couple of weeks, though, if I have my way. The other two might take a little while.
Watch Cyrus again and see if it’s as good as you remember. Don’t get me wrong, there were some great scenes, and some really, really funny moments, but I kept waiting for things to get nuts and they never really did. Maybe it’s more realistic that way?… but the way the son was acting, I expected him to try a little harder to get dudeman to walk away.

Well I haven’t seen most of those movies but man have yall seen the new Mickey Mouse shows on Disney!? AWESOME. They are really informatively, and who doesn’t love to see Goofy dance.
